Dinámicas del horizonte

Un gesto queda inmortalizado en una pincelada que representa una línea de horizonte. La forma queda estática. En este sentido, la técnica pictórica bidimensional resulta incompleta para encarnar un proceso dinámico como los leves movimientos que se generan en las líneas de horizonte, ya sea en el mar, con sus olas y mareas, como en la pampa con el viento y las presencias humanas y animales. Horizontes variables es una serie de objetos reactivos que proponen una representación pictórica dinámica de este proceso.

Sobre diversos soportes se alinean largos termómetros de alcohol. Cerca de la mitad se ubica la línea de horizonte. Esta línea no es totalmente recta, dado que no todos los termómetros miden exactamente igual. Dependiendo de la temperatura ambiente, de la cantidad de visitantes en la sala y de la iluminación (que produce calor), esta línea irá variando su nivel y su forma, como pequeñas olas. Los espectadores pueden incluso tocar los bulbos y dejar el rastro de su presencia que se diluye sutilmente con el paso del tiempo.

A gesture is immortalized in one stroke representing a horizon line. This form is static. The pictorial technique is incomplete for representing in twodimensional paintings a dynamic process like the slight movements that are generated on the horizon lines, whether in the sea, with waves and tides, or in the pampas with wind or human and animal presences. Horizontes variables (Variable horizons) is a series of reactive objects proposing a dynamic pictorial representation of this process.

Long alcohol thermometers are lined up on different supports presenting a horizon line. This line is not completely straight since not all thermometers are measuring exactly the same temperature. Depending on the ambient temperature, the number of visitors in the room and the lighting (which produces heat) this line varies in level and shape, as small waves. Viewers can even touch the thermometer's bulbs, leaving traces of their presence that will subtly disappear over time.
